Kenya Airways has once again emerged as the winner of Africa’s Leading Airline for Economy Class Service and Inflight Magazine (Msafiri) at the prestigious World Travel Awards 2023.

This achievement marks the airline’s fifth consecutive win in the coveted Africa’s Leading Airline – Economy Class category and the second year running for Msafiri magazine, which has been named Africa’s Leading Inflight Journal.

The accolades were presented during the Africa & Indian Ocean World Travel Awards Gala Ceremony 2023, held at the Atlantis Royal Hotel in Dubai.

Allan Kilavuka, Kenya Airways Group chief executive officer expressed his pride and gratitude, saying the award is a testament that KQ’s ‘customer-first’ strategy is bearing fruit.

“It is also a vote of confidence from customers in the initiatives we have implemented to enhance the overall passenger experience across all touchpoints,” said Mr Kilavuka.

“It is about listening to our customers and understanding their needs. Our ultimate goal is to be the preferred carrier in Africa, and we remain committed to constant innovation for the betterment of our passengers’ experience.”

The airline has previously won in the same category in 2011, 2018, 2019, 2020, and now in 2023. In 2023, the airline introduced several improvements to its Economy Class inflight service, including the introduction of tray service, replacing the existing box service.

Passengers on specific mid to long-haul flights across the network also enjoy an additional hot meal starter and yogurt for breakfast.

Msafiri, Kenya Airways’ inflight magazine, secured the title of Africa’s leading inflight magazine for the second year in a row in 2023.

Msafiri, which has been an integral part of the inflight entertainment offerings to Kenya Airways guests for over two decades, offers a blend of education and entertainment to passengers during their journey.

The World Travel Awards (WTA) celebrated its 30th anniversary this year, marking three decades of recognising excellence in the travel and tourism industry.

“As we celebrate 30 years of travel and tourism excellence through the World Travel Awards, we are thrilled to witness how the industry has evolved over the last three decades. Our winners are shining examples of tourism excellence,” said Graham Cooke, Founder of the awards.
