Passengers traveling to Lilongwe, Malawi, this morning found themselves stranded at the airport after Kenya Airways abruptly canceled the flight.
The airline’s management confirmed the cancellation of the 12am flight but did not provide further details on the issue.
“We shall be issuing a statement on the matter,” stated Allan Kilavuka, CEO of Kenya Airways, in response to inquiries from Business Day Africa.
Affected passengers are now facing an extended stay at the airport, with the rescheduled flight set for 11:45 tonight.
The cancellation poses challenges for passengers who had planned to connect to other destinations within the country or neighboring countries, such as Mozambique. Notably, many passengers transiting to Nampula Airport typically connect from Kamuzu International in Lilongwe.
Kenya Airways utilises the Embraer 190 aircraft for the two-hour flight to Lilongwe from its hub at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
