This week’s coffee trade has been suspended after the auction failed to raise enough beans to sustain the market.

Sale 32 at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE), which was to be held on Tuesday failed to take off for lack of enough beans to sample.

This comes just a week after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua reopened the auction after failing to conduct trading for five weeks since the beginning of the current financial year.

” Sale 31 scheduled for today has been pushed to Tuesday August 29, 2023,” reads a message from NCE.

NCE confirmed the hitch had been occasioned by low volumes and requested traders to resume the auction next week

This comes as a blow to coffee brokers who had presented their samples on August 17 to facilitate their participation in this week’s auction.
